Although, entering notes via the Pitches panel is a fairly simple input method, it is sometimes more convenient and faster to place a notehead directly on the staff.

- Click on the lower staff to the right of the time signature.
- Change the duration to whole by clicking the Whole
button in the Note values pane. -
For now, click the Close
button in the Pitches panel to close it. - Click the Accidentals
button in the right sidebar to open the Accidentals pane. - To start adding notes by their staff positions, click the Edit button at the bottom of the Accidentals pane.
- Press the Down Arrow
key to go to the space between the fourth and fifth staff lines if counting from the bottom. - Add the G3 note without any accidental signs by clicking the Natural
button in the Accidentals pane. - Press the Down Arrow
key four times to go to the space between the second and third staff lines. - As an alternative to using the Natural button of the Accidentals pane, press the Return
key to add the C3 natural note. - Go to the next bar using the Right Arrow
key. - Click the Sharp
button or press the Plus key to add the C#3 note. - To delete a note at the highlighted staff position, use the Delete
key or click the Clear button at the bottom of the Accidentals pane. - Add the note G3 between the fourth and fifth staff lines, and the note G2 on the first staff line.

Press Command‑C
 . Both G3 and G2 notes will be copied. - Use Shift‑Command‑V
  to paste the copied notes after the selection. -
Go to the next position using the Right Arrow
key. -
Add a rest by clicking the Rest
button in the right sidebar. - Change the duration of the rest by clicking the Half
button in the Note values pane.
