Create a new score element

The musical event and the bar are the main constructing blocks of the score. Creating new elements of these types is a basis for writing music in the Stave'n'Tabs.

Automatic creating

When the Input mode is activated you typically use the ForwardForward button button to go to the next musical event. Due to the context-sensitivity of the application's user interface the same button can add a new musical event or a new bar for you automatically.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of examples of applying the Forward button in different situations.

Explicit creating

You can create bars and musical events explicitly using Create BeforeAdd Before button or Create AfterAdd After button buttons. They are available in the Fragment selection mode. The type of a new element is defined by a kind of currently selected fragment.

For example, to insert a new empty musical event before the selected one:

  1. Switch the selection to the Fragment mode if not yet done so. Tap Add Before button.

Create Musical event before - 01
  2. A new musical event is created and becomes selected.

Create Musical event before - 02

Explicit adding of a new bar right after the current position is no harder.

  1. Make sure that the selected fragment is a bar, not its musical events. See Bars fragment to learn how to carry out it quickly. Tap Add After button.

    Create Bar - 01
  2. A new bar with an empty musical event is created and becomes selected.

    Create Bar - 02
